Rabbit Haven Bunnies Available for Adoption

Rabbit Haven's ultimate goal is the permanent placement of our rabbits in safe, loving homes.  Adoption counseling, visitation, and education services are available to the general public.  We require that all rabbit caretakers provide permanent homes, a safe environment, proper food, grooming, medical attention, and the love and support essential to the rabbit's well-being.  We recommend that all rabbits be kept indoors and that they be allowed to live with the family and not apart (i.e., set aside in a back yard hutch).

Rabbit Haven only adopts to families who agree to keep rabbits indoors. Outside arrangements are discouraged due to early lack of social setting, early deaths caused by exposure to disease agents, such as the very deadly Myxomatosis, and predators that may harm the rabbit.  All new adoptive families receive discount coupons from area pet supply retailers, and an informative information packet.

Below we provide information about the bunnies available for adoption.  Additional information about the adoption process is provided at the following links:

Tristen Tristen

My name is Tristen. I’m a handsome , happy little bunny boy who is very sweet and playful. I am not shy at all. I have a curious nature and love to explore. I would love a human who wants to pet me and cuddle me in soft fleece blankets when it is sleepy time. I like to play as well , so toys, cardboard boxes with cut outs, litter boxes filled with a mountain of hay for me to tunnel in are a must for my entertainment. I am a smaller bunny so what you see is what you get in size. I’m compact, but I have a lot of heart ! I like living in an x pen - som elarge sapce no cages for me please. Come to meet me soon.

Vinnie Vinnie Vinnie

Hi, my name is Vincent. But you can call me Vinnie. I am very happy to be alive after all I went through with the giant rescue in Aptos with all my other friends! My favorite hobbies are eating treats and hay, rearranging the toys and litterbox in my pen, and hanging out acting cute to get more treats. I admit, I do love to move my litterbox and there is video to prove it, but I am really good about using my litterbox, wherever it ends up! I'm such an easygoing fellow - I don't mind the household cats, and that dog who comes scouting around my pen looking for edible tidbits? I don't mind her either. Nothing phases me much, except the rattling of the plastic bag of banana chips. THAT throws me into a tizzy!

You might notice something different about me. Besides the fact I am extra fuzzy and adorable. One of my ears is missing. But I don't even notice it, and besides, it sets me apart from all the others, right? I will likely need my future family to pay special attention to that missing ear hole - swab out the top periodically so I don't get stuff down inside, and it's possible I might need to visit the vet a little more frequently, but as of today, I am happy, healthy, and not on any medication. I healed that well!

I'd love to meet you and perhaps become part of your family. I've never had a permanent family, but I've heard a lot of great things about them!

Georgie Georgie

I am from the MCAS shelter rescue. I am a small dwarf like boy and I am relaxed and neutered. I have toys and get to run about and play. I am no longer in any danger! Being out in that big open field in Salinas was terrifying. So here I am all better finally having had enough to eat and I can find my very own home now. I am looking for a fun loving family and maybe even a bunny friend. I learned how to use my litter box and I have been loving hays, green and toys - I am easy to pick up and sort of think I like it. I don't mind other animals as long as they are friendly and do not bark at me or bite me! I like living in an x pen or just being out in about after I learn where the bathrooms are. Indoor housing only. Come meet me soon.

Kara Kara

Kara is a sweet and loving dark brown lop female. She is still a young bunny, but has been spayed. She enjoys toys, friendly humans and gets along with everyone. Her current family can no longer keep her due to a family illness so we need to find a permanent place for Kara soon so she will have continuous love and affection that she is accustomed to receiving. She lives in an x pen.

Lynda Lynda

Hello, I am a loving, sweet, bunny. I am reddish in color with deep brown eyes. I like attention and to play. I want to live with happy, gentle people, and maybe even another bunny friend. I have been spayed already! I am healthy. I was living a great life, then my family lost our home and they could not find an apt that would allow our family to stay together. At first I was Very upset and sad. But I am doing my best to adjust. I do like it here at the Haven. They are doing everything to help me feel comfortable. I feel loved. I have learned that I don't mind birds and I like most other bunnies. I use a litter box and eat from a crockery food and water dish. My veggies include kale, parsley, spring mix and dandies. I love toys too. I enjoy all types of hay, especially Western timothy - they make a hay salad here I really like. It has timothy, oat and orchard grass hay in it. Hay is my main food.

I live in an x pen with soft sheet for my floor and I am clean as I can be! Come to meet me soon please. I want a home of my very own right away. I just want to be settled. This move is a big change for me. I am a super mellow and I am just the right size for snuggling. If I want attention I will stand up on my back legs to say hello to you. I have many personal things that come with me (even my own litter box) . (I have my own travel bag too!)

Godiva Godiva

Hello, I am Godiva and I came from the Aptos breeder rescue. Everyone says I am beautiful. I feel very happy inside now that I have food and I have been able to get healthy and clean. I had a small litter of five children even though I am Very young. They are all ok and ready for their own homes now. As a bunny mom I understand that each of my bunnies will find wonderful homes. I raised them to be super sweet, just like me. I love hay and greens and to be clean I like my litter box changed every day and fresh hay too - I like to eat when my humans eat and to spend time with them. Right now I am not spayed yet so I need to have that done. But that can happen easily. I am not scared.

I have an even tempered personality and a fun loving sprit. I did my first jump at my foster home and is was so exciting. It is called a binky! Look forward to meeting you and joining a loving family that I can call my very own.

Superman Superman

Superman is a bunny that would prefer to be free roaming. Once he got that little taste of freedom, there was no going back for him! He is not afraid one bit of linoleum flooring while he explores the kitchen. He is sweet, loving and quite and adventurous bunny. His plays and finds new places to see and then goes back to favorite spaces to sleep and eat.

As with all living things food is always a priority, and Superman is no different in that category as well. To announce to you his bowls are empty, like in the morning, he likes to clink his bowls together. In the beginning I was startled by these noises, sometimes waking me up the mornings. ( He's pretty loud with his bowls!!) Not everyone can say their alarm clock is a hungry bunny! Now, when we hear him, we know exactly what he wants. He loves a variety of veggies, alternating between lettuce, spring mix, cilantro and parsley. Unlike his foster brother who is picky, he is content with whatever is given to him. Just as long as you don't keep him waiting, he will thump to let u know to hurry it up with the food!!

We have never heard of a bunny that likes to thump when he's happy, and (in his element) of exploring, he will do just that, along with binkies. He's not too much of a toy guy, they just get in the way of his exploring. He does best with a cottontail cottage or maze in which to further explore and satisfy his curiosity. Lastly, he is litter trained, and he loves to give kisses. Come to meet Superman soon!

Our names are name is Elodie, pronounced "el-oh-day". Geneve, and Mirabella. We are a netherland dwarf bunny sisters who are small and delicate. We are about 4 months old as of 11/2011. Very active, curious critter. We are all very sweet and comfortable being snuggled and cuddled with a gentle touch. We love to play together just like little children. Sometimes people say that dwarf bunnies are feisty and opinionated. We are an exception, as we are sweet, playful and endearing. We don’t mind being held or stroked. We have boundless energy, like to explore, and love to play in hay and with toys. Have a card board box? We like to play hide and seek boxes. Redecorating cardboard boxes is a favorite past-time as well. As we have delicate bones, we would prefer a home with older children or well mannered, calm younger children. We can be adopted out together or singly, although if we leave as a single bunny we might like a friend soon, as we are quite social with each other.

Brinkley Brinkley

My name is Brinkley. I’m a handsome fellow who is quite inquisitive and curious. I am a standard-sized rex rabbit. Awesome! I like to be the center of attention. Pet me. Hold me. Love me. I am all for it! I’m a mature bunny, about 2 years old, they think (hard to tell how old rescue bunnies are). I have been neutered so I am ready to be your family rabbit companion or friend to your spayed girl bunny. I do like to run around and kick up my heels, so a home with room for me to play would be perfect. I love to eat fresh hay, greens, pellets, healthy snacks. I could do that all day! Be sure to have an endless amount of hay in my room so that I can munch away all day. Most bunnies like that but I LOVE it!

We play together with young bunny energy and cuddle together at the end of the day. We don't mind being held and loved when running-around play time is over. We love our greens and hay almost as much as we love to play. Adopt us both and have twice the amount of fun and love !

As a larger bunny I am a lot of rabbit to love! I am confident and not easily frightened as I have a calm demeanor. I like to eat my hay, but go a little bonkers for fresh organic greens and my timothy hay pellets. I like to explore things in a careful, deliberate way, getting to know my surroundings in detail. I am good with my litter box as long as it’s in the corner I choose. What bunny wouldn’t want to arrange their room their way! My name is Winka. I am a smallish, dwarf-mix chocolate brown bunny girl. I am about 2 years old. I can be a little shy initially as I am small and sometimes big creatures make me nervous. Don't worry. I am completely open to being won over with delicious healthy snacks like apple slices or strawberries. Heck, even a branch of Italian parsley will win me over! I like to be pet an massaged in my own terms but flying through the skies in a tall humans arms is not my favorite thing. I like only short trips like that. I used to live with other bunnies so you may find that your boy bunny might find me appealing. I like hideaway boxes and grass bungalows to nap in. It's so peaceful and snug. I enjoy that comfort. Hello! We are HopALong Parker ( white boy bunny) and Opal ( grey and beige girl bunny). We are a bonded pair. We are about two years old. (Very young in rabbits years) We have a maturity about us as we are confident and secure bunnies. We love to play and interact with people, but we also have each other to snuggle and talk to if you are having a busy day.

It's Opal chatting now. HopALong has had his left eye removed due to a deep penetrating wound.(Oh my) It has healed over and is covered with clean white fur. People don't notice it though because it doesn't phase him at all! He is not a special needs bunny. He's very special though!

We are larger bunnies so that means more to love and cuddle! Be prepared because we love to be loved. We enjoy being pet and are easy to hold . We must be adopted together as our happiness comes from the company of each other as well as our interaction with our humans. A family with children could feel comfortable with us because we are gentle spirited and fun!

Storm & Bethany Storm & Bethany

Our names are Storm and Bethany. We are a bonded pair of mixed dwarf bunnies. We love each other very much, so must be adopted together. We find great comfort in each other company and are often found snuggling. We would prefer a quite home with adults or a family with older children. We like our feet on solid ground in g We very much want to find out forever home with someone who would enjoy watching our daily life together. We don't mind being picked up and snuggled occasionally . In a very nice way . Tiny Storm is Bethany's bunny protector. He will come to Bethany's rescue if she disapproves of being pet. No biting. Just lovingly protective.

Bethany tolerates human contact, but needs a gentle, calm hand. She is a little shell-shocked from her previous uncaring home. She has a little scar on her bottom lip as a reminder of how her previous family didn't take her to the vet when medical care was needed. She has made great strides though in her loving foster home.

If you are looking for a loving bunny pair who are an example of why rescue work is so important, come meet these precious bunnies and help them realize that there are people who care. Once they understand That they are finally in their forever home, They will feel that they are loved, they will relax more and more every day. Eventually they will understand that you are family and will be happy once again. Please share you love with this sweet dwarf pair.

Nibbie Willow Nibbie Willow

Nibbie was rescued from Santee Alley in Los Angeles. She was so small that she fit in the palm of a hand. The vendor told the rescue family that she was a Dwarf bunny and would not grow much more that her current size. Lies as always from Santee Ally. She really is a Dutch mix bunny & very beautiful - Nibbie has a distinct personality and makes a wonderful companion. She is very interactive and loving and gets along with cats. Nibbie lives INSIDE. She is not afraid of anything. She will not be a good match for a family with very small kids under 8 years old unless they are very rabbit savvy. Nibble is independent and does not like to be held for long periods of time. She loves being stroked and petted on her head, her ears and down her back. Nibbie loves to be roaming the room with the cats and following her grown-ups from room to room, because she wants to be where you are. She loves running and jumping about. Nibbie and the cats will groom each other; She will eventually lounge on her mat in the living room, with her toys. She likes to toss and re-arrange the toys in her cage. She is allowed to roam freely twice a day for 1 hour each time. Oh, she loves to chew - so needs plenty of willow toys.

Cassiopea Cassiopea

Cassie is "The Energizer Bunny" and a gorgeous angora lion head bunny girl. She wants to play and roam and be with her humans. She is filled with playful energy and needs to be able to run free as much time as possible to stretch her big back legs & she always wants out of her enclosure. Cassiopeia is still wobbly from never being groomed and not developing back leg muscles – when they shaved her at the shelter as she had terrible sheet mats - her fur was the binding that kept her stable. She is ok now and her fur is growing out beautifully. She has learned to stand up on her back legs and everyday she is stronger She was kept in a small cage so she had no chance to run around. Now she does - and she loves it! She loves to jump on the furniture and into your lap. She is a loyal bunny friend and craves human attention. She wants nothing more than your love. After physical therapy she was still a bit off balance and we discovered she has EC. She has already been treated though and it does not interfere with normal bunny living. She has a great appetite - loves hay and greens. She uses a large litter box and LOTS of hay.

This is one sweetheart who needs your love – call us to meet Cassiopeia – single rabbit household please.

I need alfalfa pellets and lots of fresh hay to keep my fur healthy. It take alot of energy to make such pretty fur ! I'm gentle, love to be pet, and ok with being held and cuddled. I prefer a quiet, peaceful environment. I am spayed and good with my litter box.

Lenny Lenny

HI, Aren't I a looker? Well yes if I do say so myself. I'm a very handsome guy whose name is Lenny. I have had a bit a tuff life so far. I have been stray and came in a matted mess on my back end. I'm definitely much safer here in the shelter, but I am having to make a lot of adjustments. I'm doing good tho. I love the volunteers, even if I hate being picked up by them. I'm good on the ground and am an explorer of all corners of any room. I like people tho I need some adjustment time. I'm good with my box and have a lot of Positive qualities. My mats are getting better and, well, I'm ready for you if you are ready for me.

Maya and Linus Maya and Linus

Hi, I'm Maya, the dark rex, and this is Linus, who looks like a snowshoe hare. We are a pair of beautiful bunnies!!! We are a little shy when you first meet us, but love to explore and play, and will grow more confident the more we share experiences with you. We are a bonded pair, so we like to snuggle and groom each other. We are healthy, grown up, spayed and neutered bunnies. We use a litter box and love to eat timothy hay, veggies, and a little bit of timothy pellets. Some of our favorite toys are willow tents and willow balls. Linus loves to jump up to get a better view to see what is going on. I like to be petted, and when my foster mom comes to say good-night, I stand in front of her to ask her to pet me. So does!!! My fur is very soft, so my foster mom can't resist. When Linus gets room to run, he does the highest binkies, which are bunny jumps of joy. One of our loveable qualities is that we like to be held, as long as you are gentle and pet us. We would love to have our own forever home to run around in and make you smile.

Lonnie Lonnie

This is Lonnie, and he is the perfect house bunny, with perfect litter habits (never a pellet or puddle outside his litter box/cage), perfect eating habits and a cheerful loving nature. Lonnie may be a special needs bunny but he gives back much more than he 'needs'.

He lost sight in his left eye but that doesn't slow him down in the least. He's an explorer bunny and likes to go in all the nooks and crannies he can find.

By day, he lives in a 6'x6' X-pen with a small cage to hold his litterbox and hay bin and with baskets and a box to loaf in. Every evening, he gets to play and explore in the room size bunny-proofed run-and-play area. I give him a maze of short cardboard boxes to crawl in and on, which I change around every couple of weeks to keep it interesting. He likes it even better when I join him and read while he zooms and explores. Then he comes over to rest and get pets. He's a real love-bug when it comes to pets, but when he's had enough, he zooms off to play some more.

He's a cheery little fellow, going into a binky dance when I come into his room with breakfast in the morning. Anytime I come into the room, he comes and stands up on hind legs at the edge of the pen for pets and a little chat. He just loves to be petted and to sit next to you on the couch while you pet and pet and pet him. If you skritch him along his backbone from neck down to tail, he starts bobbing his head like he's grooming. Very cute. He is even good about letting you carefully pick him up, if you hold him securely. He's a very trusting soul. He doesn't chew on furniture or cloth, but keep him away from wires. He does like to nibble those. And he's very afraid of dogs and their barking.

He loves his big basket of timothy hay every morning and his small plate of greens. He likes most greens and veggies: romaine, curly lettuce, parsley, cilantro, basil, kale, chard, collards, endive, parsnip and fennel. He did not like bell pepper or mustard greens, but those have been the only things he has rejected. He also gets a scant ¼ cup of pellets a day, half in the morning and half at night, so he stays trim and athletic and steady on his feet. If he were heavier, I would worry when he was climbing around on his maze. Treats are a pinch of alfalfa hay or a small piece of carrot or dried apple, and only once or twice a week.

So he is an all-around perfect bunny just waiting for a loving person who wants to share their home with a tiny explorer. Speak to Heather about an appointment to meet him face to face if he might be the perfect bunny for you.

Alisha and Alexander Alisha & Alexander

Hi, I'm Alexander and this is my sister Alisha. We were dumped in the east bay mountains in March and then got seperated. We thought we might never see each other again but luckily some nice people helped find both of us and realized we needed to be back together. So, here we are. We've been in a warm fun foster home ever since. We have lots of space to run and play with fun cardboard houses and tunnels to binky around. Plus there are all kinds of other friends we have and love. We are small so need a protected place with our owners to rub noses with our dog brothers and sisters and our sister the cat but we just love them. Sometimes we push our toys out so they can play with them and sometimes they push the toys back so we can play with them. Once the playing is done we also enjoy fine dining experiences with lovely hay and fresh greens (especially fresh parsley & cilantro). We like it here but really want a forever home with people who can share our joy and keep us in a nice inside home environment and protect us from ever being abondoned again. We'd love to meet you.

Solomon Solomon

See my video!

I was previously named Karate Kid because I was totally into high kick binkies when I get lots of space but I have relaxed at the shelter and like to watch what is going on with the other rabbits and people. The volunteers think I am very thoughtful when I just watch and take it all in. I am a happy medium sized rabbit that loves to be petted and play in tunnels and climb on top of boxes (and chairs and shelves, etc). I am easy to handle and do well with cats too. My fur is softer than most rabbits because it is a little longer but the only extra care it requires is pets and snuggles. I was found as a stray and think indoor homes are the way to go. I do not have to worry where my next meal will come from or if I am going to be eaten myself.
