The Advanced Well Maintained Rabbit class was a big hit
August 2011
The Advanced Well Maintained Rabbit class was a big hit! Two classes were offered on 7-31 at For Other Living Things. Both classes filled up right away. This hands-on class offered advanced rabbit care instructions in a relaxed setting where each individual and their rabbit(s) could receive personal attention and guidance. Topics included basic rabbit home health evaluation processes, basic grooming instruction geared to the prevention of disease, and urgent care training regarding medication and supportive care for rabbits. Record keeping for rabbit’s health was discussed and helpful forms offered that could be used to record important information re rabbits health needs. Participants learned how to carry out a clear home evaluation of the rabbit(s) health state and be able to identify medical problems. A complete and detailed vet referral list was provided, so emergency vet care could quickly be located when needed.

Class participants brought their own bunnies and were shown how to take a bunny's temperature, to check the rabbit for signs and symptoms of illness or disease, and then to administer sub Q fluids and give critical care. The advanced rabbit care class came with a detailed booklet for reference regarding all material covered in the class as well as a basic first aid kit for the rabbit. Very nice!

Our thanks to Carolyn Mosher, our knowledgeable class instructor who dedicated her entire day to help all the students learn. Awesome!

Special note of thanks to Anita, at For Other Living things who offered us the space for the class and who held the store open all day. That is dedication!

It was a fact filled, informative and pleasant day. Participants left knowing so much more to help care for the beloved rabbits.
