Update: August 16, 2010
Benny did Great! The challenge was met and Cedar had his surgery last Friday –Thank you so much! If fact we took in more than the Challenge! We plan to cover Charisma's high risk spay surgery when she is well enough. Of course we covered $100 of the medical bills also.
Both Cedar and Charisma are getting better so quickly – You should see Charisma run – Yes she can! Her seizures have been improving – As she gets well I have a sense that she will stop seizures. She was once so nutritionally depleted that she could not stand. Now she is filled with life and she is a sweet bunny.
Cedar is doing very well too. He is So precious. He is totally blind and the doctor said that his remaining eye tissue was too close to the blood vessel so he did not have eye surgery. He is healing, eating, enjoying being held and snuggled. He is so charming. Right now he will get to play in his enclosed area He tries to do a jump but it is about ˝ “ He is happy – Can’t wait until I can get Charisma to see him.
He likes his plush bunny friend and at last he and Charisma are safe and will have the time of their life with their NEW adoptive home – they are going up to live with Eileen and Jerry Lee is Las Vegas NV They will be joining 6 other handicapable rabbits there – The Lee’s are simply delightful people ! We are close to having a very happy ending here. Thank you and Benny for helping these bunnies get all their needs met. They are going to their new home in style -, carriers, toys, medication, special oxbow food, and medical files. They are set !
Love to you and many thanks again for your wonderful way of helping to honoring Benny!

Hi everyone - I am writing to you from far away to encourage you to match my Dad's donation to help cute Charisma and her buddy Cedar. I offer to match the donations up to $500 in addition to the $500 I have already given. What a great time to donate to The Rabbit Haven! For every $50 donation I will match $50 up to $500! You can even send more if you like - I hear they both may need surgery.
I went over to the land of rainbows but I am still very present in my family's life and now in yours! Come on! We want to help these two get better real soon.
Love, Benny
Here is my story as told by my Dad, John
His mommy brought him to me as a baby wrapped in a towel and I fell in love with him immediately. He became a house bunny and soon learned to use his litter box. He was playful and liked to tease me by being bad and then laugh when he was scolded by shaking his ears at me - so it was impossible to be angry at him because I would then be laughing with him. He loved his greens - especially his dandelion greens - and he would run around jumping and shaking his ears when he knew he was going to get a treat - he loved treats. He loved to be petted but not picked up - he would lie for an hour letting me massage his eye brows and scratch his forehead and he would make his little bunny kiss sounds which I always returned right back to him kiss for kiss. When he was unhappy with the greens on his plate he would let me know by picking up his plate with his teeth and throwing it against his water bowl and he got me up early many times doing that so I would get him his breakfast. We had breakfast together every day - me at the table and him under his chair next to me. At night time he would get fresh greens and hay on his blanky on my office chair and I would kiss him goodnight and he would kiss me back. We had seven wonderful years together during which he showed me more love and friendship than any other living being I have known. He was beautiful...and will always own his daddy's heart.
My story from Mom, Tess
I will certainly never forget the day I brought Bennie home with me seven years ago. I remember talking to him on the ride home when he was about to meet his new family. I told him that I knew his Daddy would fall in love with him--at first sight. It was funny because when I walked in with him, John saw him and said, "What did you do?" And then of course, as I had predicted, John fell in love with our, at the time, unnamed bunny. Benny became his name and he was the sweetest boy!! And of course, he soon learned how to place his teeth marks into all of the pristine baseboards around the house, which after many attempts we found a simple coating of plastic made the baseboards simply unappealing to a our new, little family member. After his infancy/toddler stage, he found himself attached (understatement) to Daddy...to the point that no impostor would suffice. Benny knew well that his best friend in the whole wide world was forever to be John. The funny thing was, John (Daddy) tried so hard to stay mad at Benny whenever Benny wasn't exactly the model bunny...but to no avail did staying mad at Benny ever hold. I so wish that Benny could have lived on for many, many more years, but perhaps he finds himself in bunny heaven with sweet, yummy treats to eat everyday....all day long!! That is how I will picture him. I love you Benny (even if you loved your Daddy even more).
