Rabbit Haven Hop to Shop Event - A Great Success!

The Rabbit Haven Hop To Shop fundraising event "Community Shopping Day at Macy's" was held Friday, May 11 at the Macy's Valley Fair store. This is the first year the Rabbit Haven has participated. Hopefully we will participate every year in the future.

What a fabulous success! Not only was it fun, the rabbit Haven gathered around $150 in general donations during the day and met with many people to tell them about The Haven. We will also be the recipients of a portion of the day's sales from Macy's. We will be notified when there is a final tally! We will post it as soon as we know. That will most likely be a substantial amount of money. And this is in addition to the $1350 we generated in donations as a result of selling tickets to the event! Binkies from the bunnies. Wow!

Haven volunteers provided Greeters/Ticket Sellers/Takers, to welcome guests at the door, inform them of Community Shopping Day & The Haven, sold tickets, and distributed brochures; and the Door Captain, who ensured that everyone was OK at the door. Macy's staff and a few people who called me commented that our volunteers were very nice and so helpful. They were impressed by our table as well. As you can see, it looked picture perfect. Thanks to set up staff Cindy M., Kathleen and posters thanks to Karen T and Darrell. The table looked great!

We played a video that showed many of our adoptable rabbits, and had a binder with pictures and stories about our available bunnies as well - they both generated a good deal of interest. The video was created by Karen, Darrell and Ray! What a great touch to the event. The screen really catches the attention of people passing by. Thank you Cindy for loaning us the monitor and DVD player unit.

Our Rabbit Haven table was on the 2nd floor, inside mall entrance by the Women's INC clothing. The table was busy all through the day. Lots of Shoppers were out and about. Macy's sponsored fun events all day throughout the store including things like Starbucks coffee & pastries, live radio broadcasts, fashion shows, San Jose Youth symphony, strolling juggler, chair massages and more.
