January 22, 2008 The Rabbit Haven and The Haven's Cavy House are carrying out two high volume rescues now! We are involved with an ongoing rescue of over 50 rabbits and a shelter rescue of 63 guinea pigs coming in this Friday. The Guinea Pigs were packed up in a crate and left in the shelter's drop off box in the middle of the night. It is a miracle that they all survived the cold, cramped conditions. We are in desperate need of supplies, transport, foster care sites, adopters and rescue assistance from rescue groups that specialize in rabbits or cavies. New foster families are welcome and will be set up in the Santa Cruz, San Jose or Bay Area. Supplies, rescue, adopters and fosters are required as soon as possible. The supplies we need are:

• Carriers for cavies and rabbits - 20-50 are essential right now
• Volunteers - We need transport people, foster people, adopters
• Enclosures - Tommy 120 Marchioros, large My First Homes, NIC cubes, Precision exercise pens
• Blankets, sheets and fleece blankets - for bedding and comfort
• Wooden hidey houses
• KMR Kitten Milk Replacement formula
• Snuggle Safe warming discs for babies and moms of litters
• Pelleted rabbit and guinea pig food - Oxbow 15/23 and Oxbow Cavy Performance or Cavy Cuisine.
• Timothy, alfalfa, orchard grass and oat hays
• Carefresh and other paper based litters
• Litter boxes

This is a crisis! Mothers are having babies, and litters have already been born! They are tiny and they need Snuggle Safe heaters, fleece bedding and proper food. If anyone has carriers, food, hay, crocks or litter boxes please help today. We will have most all of the guinea pigs on Friday, most of the rabbits are already in.
