A shelter volunteer sent The Haven an alert about a group of rabbits that had come into the shelter, and were at risk of being put to sleep. The rabbits had come in as an owner surrender, and because they showed signs of illness the shelter could not keep them. We had 48 hours to arrange rescue. Thank goodness that we have Julie at this shelter and great shelter managers. They all got out!!!! Thank you so much everyone who helped.!!!!!
All of the rabbits were rescued through the heroic efforts of loving, kind, Julie, a shelter advocate, plus SaveABunny, Harvest Home's rescue site, Rabbit Row and The Rabbit Haven. These Pitiful abandoned bunnies were slated for certain death by 6 PM today, but they were all saved! Oregon and Washington rescue groups called too to help us in case of emergency. Blessing to Julie, the main person involved and Erika, shelter contact at the rabbits' shelter. Compassion was alive in this rescue. Julie and Heather worked all day to get this done. Heather was having computer problems, so we needed to call everyone by phone. Julie was in her car transporting most of today. Rick, a Haven volunteer, helped with transport of four rabbits to SaveABunny in Marin. This rescue was a fantastic collaborative effort. Fabulous people!!!

The Haven will pay for spay/neuter for some of the bunnies, and we have provided enclosures to be used as temporary housing. More supplies may be needed in the future. Thank you to everyone involved. We needed help and you came through - thank you so much everyone.
