Tango with his new cast

Tango was seen by his vet on Tuesday – His x ray results were not good. The bone is just not healing as expected. They have called Dr. Marcales, his orthopedic surgeon to see if another surgery is needed. We are all very upset and poor Tango is just getting so depressed. He is not very happy . He gets loads of TLC but it is hard to make up for his suffering. He wants to play so much. He has drugs but that only helps so much. He gives kisses to his foster mom and looks pretty sad.

He has such a loving Foster mom and Dad but begin stuck on cage rest so long is awful – I wish the news was better but we may be looking at yet another surgery. After that the entire process starts over. If that leg bone does not heal better. It is quite bent now – So discouraging. Send him healing energy please. Plus if you happened to be able to help with his surgical costs it will help. We are already over 3 thousand – the worst part is that he is not healed.

Tango with foster mom Karen at The Rabbit Haven

Tango, sweet Dutch dwarf needs medical care & support – His vet bill is estimated at least $1, 500 to $2,000.00 dollars. (Or more, depending on his healing)

Tango, a precious 6 month old Dutch Dwarf broke his leg and his ankle. He managed to get his little back leg stuck in the precision pen behind a no waste hay rack with disastrous results! A spiral Fracture affecting his entire leg and ankle. We were so concerned that he would loose his foot or the entire leg. This is a terrible injury. He will need loving Rehab care if his surgeries work.

Fortunately we are close to an excellent rabbit surgeon, Dr S. Hawklyn. She performed his first surgery. During his long and difficult surgery Dr. Hawklyn discovered that his Fracture would need even more in depth orthopedic care. So she called in orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Marsolais, a fantastic orthopedic surgeon – They had planned to try and splint and or apply an external fixation unit to his leg. All attempts were being made to save Tango’s leg and to repair the damaged leg to offer him full mobility.

In surgery Dr. Marsolais found that Tango’s leg fracture had damaged the bones so badly that an external appliance was not possible. So with his magic touch he wired and applied the perfect splint. Tango’s leg and ankle is now aligned and hopefully he will heal with 6 weeks of splint changes, medical support and medication. Dr. Marsolais worked to straighten the tibia spiral fracture and also needed to wire his ankle separately. Two surgeries later Tango is recovering – He will require weekly splint changes for 6 weeks by a specialist and x ray at 2-4 and 6 weeks to make sure the healing is proceeding as planned.

We hope that his healing will continue and that he will not require further surgery. We are now fundraising for this little boy, Any amount you can send will be deeply appreciated. You can donate onine via our PayPal account and put Tango's name in the comments section, or donate by check. Total bills are not yet in Estimates set at $1,500 to $2,000.00 – Please help us help Tango.
