Winnie and Valentine Heart
February is Adopt A Rescued Rabbit Month.
Bring SomeBunny into your home and heart.

The Rabbit Haven, a non profit rabbit rescue and education group, joins The House Rabbit Society and shelters across the country in celebrating "Adopt A Rescued Rabbit Month."

The timing of this educational effort arrives during one of the toughest seasons for rabbit rescue organizations all over the country.  A flood of phone calls and email are coming in daily about unwanted and abandoned rabbits - many of which were babies purchased as Christmas gifts just a few months ago.  Now these ‘gift’ animals are no longer wanted!  Either the children may have grown tired of them, or people want to go on vacation or a rabbit has been found stray in someone’s yard.  Sadly, rabbits are even abandoned at local parks!  That is a shame in that these pets cannot possibly survive in the wild.

Thousands of these beautiful, precious rabbits are also being taken to already overcrowded shelters and sanctuaries.  The Rabbit Haven's staff is actively involved with our shelters in managing this overflow situation during this time frame and throughout the year.

You can help Call to foster or adopt.  Make "Adopt a Rabbit Month" a reality for some special bunny just waiting for you! Somebunny is waiting to love YOU. Call us at 831-239-7119; we need foster sites TODAY!

Call the Haven and inquire about rabbit adoptions.  We provide information about rabbit behavior, home set up, diet, grooming and all the basic needs of a new house rabbit companion.    Rabbits are wonderful indoor companions, get along with many other animals, are intelligent, affectionate and inquisitive, and can easily be trained to use a litter box. Consider finding a special bunny friend for you single rabbit at home too- they love companionship.

The ideal rabbit person, in addition to being gentle and eager to get to know a rabbit on his or her terms, must be willing to rabbit-proof their home to make certain the rabbit is safe and happy. We adopt to indoor, loving permanent homes.

The Rabbit Haven advocates spaying and neutering rabbits and can help you locate a rabbit vet in your area.  They also ask that the public contact them to learn about the most up to date info on rabbit care, housing, medical concerns, traveling with a companion rabbit and for bunny sitting information.   Rabbit Haven is a great resource for those wanting to adopt a bunny.   Call today 831-239-7119 or e-mail at director@therabbithaven.org.

For those of you thinking about having a new animal companion, please take the time to think about adding a house rabbit to your family at this time.  Call The Haven for helpful resources and to ask questions you may have. We look forward to talking with you. We have adoption events in Santa Cruz and now Sunnyvale. Check the websiteour home page for show dates and times.
