Every Easter rabbits are bought as gifts for children, and most of these bunnies end up like the rabbit above, scared and locked in tiny metal cages, dumped at shelters – or just tossed out in the street where they usually die of starvation or predator attacks!  Please don’t buy Easter bunnies – Please don’t do this to a defenseless bunny!

Rabbits are fragile, social and sensitive and do not make good pets for tiny children. Rabbits can live 10-15 years and require the same long-term commitment as a dog or cat.  Children lose interest quickly. Rabbits do make great pet companions for adults!

You can help us help the rabbits. This Easter, give your children plush toy bunnies, chocolate bunnies or you can get a special Easter basket from Rabbit Haven (available at our shows at PetsMart).  Or you can donate to Rabbit Haven and help us help these wonderful animals. All donations will help us rescue abandoned Bunnies from overcrowded shelters, get them medical treatment, and find foster care and permanent, loving homes.

This Easter make a compassionate choice.  You can donate to the “I CARE” bunny program. Ask for your “I CARE” bunny form at Haven’s Santa Cruz PetsMart shows.  It’s fun and kids love it!  Once you have your I care bunny form, your child (or you) can write their name on the bunny and we will put it up for all to see! It works- Children feel good knowing they are helping!
